The Black Siren

Happy Monday, loves…

It is snowing here in Colorado -which makes this Michigan girl happy- as I always LOVE being home on the first day/night of snowfall. I also was born in October, so this month always marks the start of my favorite time of year: Fall, heading into Christmastime. :)

Photographer Ryan Landell and I had some fun with this look. I wore it for our The Sip Podcast episode where we reviewed my absolute favorite Jazz Vocalist/Inspiration EVER: Grammy-Award winning Miss Dianne Reeves.

ICYMI, The Sip is a powerful podcast, a healing weekly balm for Black Women, and the brainchild of Instrumentalist Monique Brooks-Roberts. A violinist and pop-culture enthusiast, Monique had an idea of doing a podcast featuring a Singer (Rajdulari), and Instrumentalist (Monique), and a Poet (KerrieJoy). Our first episode aired January 2019. When the pandemic hit, we moved our platform to Facebook, and we’ve been hosting weekly episodes ever since! Check us out on Facebook here.

And if you didn’t catch that Dianne Reeves interview (it was SO good!), you can watch it here.

The SIP Podcast is a journey; the black girl’s guide to healing. It is a journey for women of color to take together or alone, in company or in private, confident or unsure. The point is to walk with us, talk it out, be encouraged through your struggle, and heal together. On the journey, there will be laughs, anger, resurfaced pain, inspiration, and overall humanity. …
