Hello there, Fashionistas!
It’s been a long time since I’ve posted to this blog, but I’m so excited to be back!
First, if you’ve been following me on Instagram or on Facebook, you’ve likely heard me mention how I’ve been working on improving my health over the past 3-4 years. And, hunney, on some of those years it was an uphill battle!
Behind the scenes, I’ve always had a private Facebook group of sisterfriends that have kept me motivated, and who have inspired me to get healthy even when I wanted to give up. It started in 2016, when I thought becoming a Wellness Coach for a well-known fitness company might help me lose weight. (It didn’t)
Back then, a dear friend of mine and fellow Coach Hansa Ben encouraged me to start an online group for sisters of color who wanted to get healthy like I did. At first I thought ‘there’s no way I -with all of my food challenges- could ever be an example of how to lead a healthier life!’ But at the time, Coach Hansa knew something I didn’t-that her suggestion would later end up becoming a true passion and a calling on my life.

I’ll share more over time about how @blackgirlfitclub came to be, but for now let me say- I’ve had health and weight issues ALL my life. I’ve tried every diet plan from Jenny Craig, to SouthBeach, Atkins, Master Cleanse (for 40 days mind you).
You name it, I’ve done them all.
It wasn’t until I discovered that my issues weren’t with food or exercise at all. My issue was my relationship with self.
